Doctor of Science dissertation thesis has been considered by scientific board at Georgian
Technical University and DS degree was awarded to author of research Alexander Sharmazanashvili.
Dissertation topic with its title "Development of Computer Aided Modeling of Manufacturing process
on the base of Constructive-Technological Features" concern with development of special integration
approach of CAD and CAM systems. Research was continuation of PhD thesis prepared at Bauman Moscow
state Technical University in 1991. Since there research was continued at Georgian Technical
University in CAD/CAM division.
01 Novmber 2004
Chief manager of CATIA engineering center Alexander Sharmazanashvili invited on project
associate position at CERN to coordinate collaborative agreement between ATLAS TCn and
Georgian CATIA engineering center. Agreement on collaboration has been agreed in June,
2004. Thus, ATLAS will explore engineering manpower for computer aided designing work and
involve stuff from Georgia in conflicts checking activity.
01 October 2004
New member, Shota Shanava has been enrolled in CATIA Engineering Center on the position of
engineer designer. Contract was signed from 1st of October, 2004. Shota Shanava successfully
finished Georgian Technical University in 2004 and was awarded Bachelor of Science degree.
He has finished pre-contract 12 month training and successfully passed tests in AutoCAD,
Mechanical Desktop and CATIA.
27 June 2004
Designer of CATIA engineering center Alexander Bitadze invited at CERN in ATLAS TCn to take part in Euclid/CATIA designing work for pixel group of inner detector. Contract is 6 month duration

Besarion Chikhradze.
2 June 2004
Agreement AA 177/04 has been signed in Geneva, Switzerland by ATLAS TCn authorities and chief
manager of Georgian CATIA engineering center. According to this new contract ATLAS will
pay 4'000CHF/month to engineering center in Georgia to explore engineering manpower for
computer aided designing work. Stuff in Georgia has to be check integration conflicts
and do comparison of initial Euclid models with generated CATIA models. Results will be
represented by e-reports and will be shared through the web. Stuff will be managed remotely
from CERN. For this purpose one PJAS position foresee at CERN. Also designers from CATIA
engineering center will be invited at CERN. Project will start from 1st of the September, 2004.
1st stage will be finished in 30 of April, 2005. At the end of this period results of collaboration
will be estimated and decision for future cooperation will be made.
