Connector was a CERN application developed to convert Euclid 2D/3D models into CATIA V5 2D/3D models. The success of the transformation depended on several external factors, including differences in geometry tree structures and the underlying CAD kernel libraries. These differences often led to varying interpretations of geometric entities, causing model migration failures.
Within this project, the CATIA Center was responsible for investigating the factors affecting the transformation process and developing a systematic methodology to improve the reliability and success rate of model migration.
To achieve this objective, the CATIA Center analyzed more than 300 cases of 2D drawing transformations and compiled a statistical analysis of migration errors, classifying them into several categories. Similar investigations were carried out in parallel for 3D model transformations to identify failure patterns and establish guidelines for successful data migration.
