The IPPOG Collaboration Board reviewed the final report presented by Alexander Sharmazanashvili during the CB meeting at CERN.
The report confirmed the collaboration agreement, “IPPOG Agreement 2021-001,” signed between IPPOG and GTU on July 8, 2021.
Under this agreement, the Georgian team was tasked with providing effort in the area of software development and support, specifically:
- A browser-based 3D event-visualization display application for the ATLAS experiment
- A browser-based virtual-reality application for organizing virtual tours of the ATLAS cavern
- A browser-based augmented-reality application for exploring the ATLAS detector
- Browser-based augmented-reality extensions for printed posters, books, and other exhibition materials
- Cognitive 3D gaming applications related to particle physics
All five software packages were successfully developed under the leadership of Alexander Sharmazanashvili and deployed for use in the IPPOG International Masterclasses.
The Georgian team also evaluated the impact of these applications on student experience during masterclasses through extensive testing in Georgia. The results were reviewed by IPPOG and approved for use throughout the entire IPPOG network.
The Collaboration Board expressed its gratitude to the Georgian team and to Alexander for their significant contribution to improving the International Masterclasses, and indicated interest in future collaboration.
