Member of the NEC, Shota Chlaidze, has completed his contract.
Despite the relatively short duration of his engagement, Shota made an impressive contribution to NEC and demonstrated exceptional professional growth.
Shota first became involved with the NEC after participating as a student in the CERN International Masterclass 2024, which sparked his interest in IT applications in High Energy Physics. Following this, he enrolled in a programming training course provided by NEC under the supervision of Nino Zurashvili, a senior NEC member. In just three months, Shota successfully completed all training modules and began working at NEC as an intern. During this period, he contributed to collaborative tasks with CERN/ATLAS.
Within another three months, Shota’s rapid progress and dedication convinced project leaders of his readiness to take on independent responsibilities. Consequently, he was appointed as a full-stack programmer at NEC.
Shota’s first major project was the ART – Augmented Reality Table, an application for visualizing the ATLAS detector. He carried out extensive R&D to identify the most suitable platforms and engines for the project. After five months of focused work, he delivered the first version of the application, which was successfully presented at the ATLAS Outreach Workshop. Following the completion of ART, Shota moved on to the upgrade of the Tracer/Core application, where he and his colleague Shota Tevdorashvili developed Tracer/Core version 7.0.
His next assignment involved developing a new version of the CERN International Masterclasses Software Platform – Tracer-MC. Together with Shota Tevdorashvili, he implemented major improvements to both the back-end and front-end, successfully delivering the updated platform for use in the 2026 Masterclasses.
In summary, Shota Chlaidze served as a lead developer on three major software projects:
Augmented Reality Table (ART) – Visualization tool for the ATLAS detector https://tracer-art.web.cern.ch
Tracer/Core version 7.0 – Core software upgrade https://tracer-core.web.cern.ch/
Tracer-MC International Masterclasses Platform – Educational platform for CERN Masterclasses 2026 https://tracer-mc.web.cern.ch/
