ATLAS LOOKING FOR TO NEW COOPERATION

ATLAS Technical Coordination group sent to Georgian team new package for investigation of possibility for fabrication of New Small Wheel (NSW) aluminum structure in Georgia. Package contains detailed technical specifications and 96 drawings. NSW is part of ATLAS detector to be upgraded in 2017. The function of the NSW aluminium structure is to provide the mechanical net sustaining the various parts of the innermost portion of the detector components permitting their correct positioning in the ATLAS forward region. This structure is designed to support a global load of more than 1 MN. CERN planning to share cost of fabrication, assembly, transportation and installation at CERN with Georgian side. For Georgia it is high demanded project while it should be considered as a country in-kind contribution on the way of associate membership at CERN.
