NEW SMALL WHEEL CALCULATIONS

Georgian team together with mechanical engineers from Georgian Technical University and Georgian manufacturing company “Elita-Burgi” investigated possibilities for the fabrication and assembly of New Small Wheel facilities in Georgia. Package includes fabrication of JD disk which is 22 tonnes and 25 meters diameter disk construction. It requires high precision (within 100 μm linear tolerance) machining of large and heavy pieces using CNC machines and assembly using unique fixtures to ensure high precision of end assembly. Project is high demanded task also for Georgian government considering it as a Georgian in-kind contribution on the way of associate membership at CERN.
