MEETING AT CERN ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT

GCCEC director mat with authorities from CERN Engineering Department – chief of department Mr. Thomas Pettersson and group leader Mr. Christophe Delamare. Meeting was organized by the initiative of LHC director Mr. Steve Mayer and chief of Engineering department Mr. Roberto Saban. GCCEC propose 4 drafts of projects for possible future collaboration:

1) CATIA Web Geometry – software tool represented interactive geometry on the base of 3D pdf.
2) LHC Virtual Navigator – software tool for navigation inside/outside of LHC with linking possibilities with bill of information associated with selected items.
3) Development of C++ geometrical volumes on the base of CATIA geometry for FLUKA applications.
4) CATIA models recovering and simplification for the integration purposes.

GCCEC already developed drafts of above mentioned tools on the base of ATLAS CATIA models database of 2008. GCCEC was among of first teams starting implementation of CATIA tools at CERN. GCCEC was built first model database of geometry of ATLAS detector with 3’705 big assemblies and more than 10mln. elements. GCCEC spent 13’000men/hour for the development of above mentioned resource, starting from 2004.
