A new version of the Tracer-MC application for the IPPOG International Masterclasses was presented during IPPOG Week at CERN https://indico.cern.ch/event/1593704/
Members of the Masterclasses Steering Committee, along with representatives from IPPOG groups in various countries and partner universities, were introduced to the latest developments of the application.
Tracer-mc is a browser-based 3D tool designed for the ATLAS WW exercise of the International Masterclasses. The application requires no installation and is compatible with a wide range of platforms, including laptops, tablets, and mobile devices. It can be accessed directly through any web browser at https://tracer-mc.web.cern.ch/
The results of Tracer-MC’s use in the 2025 Masterclasses were also discussed. During the 2025 programme, Tracer-MC had 465 users and collected around 9,000 data entries. For the 2026 Masterclasses, an updated version will be deployed, featuring improvements to the application’s engine and user interface. Version 2.0 includes an upgrade from Tracer-Core 2.1 to 7.0 and from WebGL engine r127 to r177. These updates provide significant performance enhancements, reducing application response time by approximately 50%.
