Georgian Technical University and ATLAS experiment has signed agreement for continuation of collaborative project started in 2010. New agreement signed for 2 years up to the end of 2016. Georgian Team will proceed work for 4 working packages employing 8FTE manpower in GTU office.
WP1: Development of Software Tools used to Store and Retrieve Detector Conditions Data into the ATLAS Oracle Database using the COOL Software Packages – this work is mainly concern with development of new releases of COOL Tag Browser (CTB) software; add string-search function for searching tags in various DB and schemas in Release 11 (R11); add payload data representation in R11; replacement official release R10 by new R11; add channels searching function; add IOV ranges input function with construction of charts for payload data interpretation. Some efforts will be done for optimization of existing tools like CherryPy to increase performance by adding cash on server. After COMA server will be replaced by modified CherryPy in CTB for the navigation in COOL folders; add representation of intermediate folder tags in CTB which are now not available by use of COMA. Also development of Graphical User Interface of CTB according to ergonomic design; add new functionality to CTB by use of PL/SQL server.
WP2: Checking G4 baseline geometry for Integration conflicts and Conformity with as-built geometry – there are regions where MC/data discrepancy is substantial. Purpose of this work is having answer does discrepancy comes due to the difference between Geant4 vs CATIA geometry or not. If yes then G4 baseline geometry will be accordingly modified. Execution of WP will foresee involvement of different groups – Muon group, for choose the region of consideration and checking MC/data discrepancy after geometry modification; Georgian team – reproduction CATIA geometry from SmarTeam and CDD, Geant4vsCATIA comparison, simplification ->XML preparation from CATIA; Muon simulation group – modification of Geant4 baseline geometry. Georgian Team will use unique simulation loop on CATIA platform developed together with ATLAS simulation team.
WP3: Adding New Volumes in Geant4 Baseline Geometry – there are several regions in Geant4 baseline geometry where new volumes of services and supports should be added. Also several existing volumes should be replaced due to detector upgrades. Purpose of the WP is to build so called “Loop” between design engineers and simulation team. Design geometry will be extracted from the engineering database and reproduced into CATIA by adding missing drawings. Than 3D model will be simplified with keeping source volume and weight, transfer into XML and send to Muon simulation team for final upgrade of Geant4 baseline geometry. Georgian Team will use unique simulation loop on CATIA platform developed together with ATLAS simulation team.
WP4: Development of Event Visualisation Display VP1 Software Tools – efforts will be done to develop new graphical engine for VP1 software tools, modify Graphical User Interface and user interaction scenarios according to ergonomic design. add new functionalities of “fish eye view” visualisation mode; geometrical overlaps detection; draw shape outlines for all shapes; add accumulation mode for systems wishing to e.g. histogram data over several events; make common infrastructure for common object browser; make alternateRep for all custom shapes; provide output for TV screen; display of PID related information; add automatic projections for RPC’s, TGC’s and CSC’s; add option to hide specific tracks.
