VISIT OF ATLAS DELEGATION IN GEORGIA

ATLAS Technical Coordinator Dr Beniamino Di GIROLAMO, ATLAS logistic Coordinator Mrs Tiina BENSON, ATLAS Project Engineer Dr Giancarlo SPIGO and Georgian Engineering Team Leader Dr Alexander SHARMAZANASHVILI visited Tbilisi, Georgia. Purpose of visit covers several aspects – Information about the regulations for CERN associate membership; funding for HEP research; resource Review Board functions for the experiments; projects of collaboration in education (autistic children project, as well as any divulgation activity for HEP); projects of collaboration in medical field at large for sensors as well as investigation techniques using hadron/ions beams; possible students stages at CERN. Special attention was paid to possible collaboration with Georgian engineering departments for the construction of parts for the ATLAS new small wheel detector in Georgia. Delegation met with Minister of Education and Science of Georgia Ms Tamar SANIKIDZE, visited Georgian Technical University, Factory “Elita Burji”, Laboratory of Georgian Technical University in Saguramo, Georgian National Academy of Sciences, Cancer Research Centre Martin D. Abeloff Laboratory, Inclusive Education Development Division of the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia, Nuclear Engineering Centre at Georgian Technical University.
