NEW CLASH ANALYZE

GCCEC done new clash analyze of ATLAS magnet coils and discovery of overlaps inside the coils. Existence of any overlaps is very important for stability of ATLAS simulation/reconstruction algorithms and corresponding software tools. Therefore GCCEC’s technical report provokes heavy discussion in ATLAS simulation society. GCCEC received critical remarks as well from several people. GCCEC discovered overlaps and given possible reasons of it. Volume description’s coding on XML and then it goes through the 2 simultaneous transactions before coming up to final Geant4 description. So, GCCEC suppose 3 possible reasons of clashes:

• Wrong XML source description of volumes geometry.
• Geometry transaction faults.
• Wrong interpretation by software tools.

All above mentioned cases will be investigated in detail together with GCCEC and ATLAS simulation.
